Caught by my Traveling (Shutter) Bug

Like a dream come true for me, I finally set foot in the august halls of the National Museum. The bonus there was that I heard the Spoliarium story straight from no less than Mr. John Silva. The beautiful paintings and installations are precious gems of our country. There I saw how Amorsolo captured the Philippine light and the sculpture of a dog by our national hero, Jose Rizal.

I'm proud to say that the National Museum houses creations of Filipino talents. Filipino art is something that should be appreciated and upheld in our country. After all, our nation was born through a painting. (Want to know how? Take John Silva's National Museum tours. See his site at johnlsilva.multiply.com).

Hmm. How were you able to take a photo of this one? ;) Weren't they pretty tough on cameras? Last time I was there, security was very vigilant.

Seeing the real Spoliarium plus John Silva, leading the tour and doing the talk, explaining how it influenced, not only Jose Rizal, but also the making of our nation, was indeed a great privilege...
